CUSTOMER HUB
Moving guidance and claims support for All In One Moving & Storage customers and military members — practical preparation checklists, what to keep out of your shipment, and the right claim path for your move. No registration needed.
Prepare for Your Move.
A little planning before moving day makes the whole experience smoother. Work through this checklist with your crew and move coordinator.
Confirm your move dates, addresses, and any parking, elevator, or building-access arrangements for both locations.
Discuss packing scope in advance, and flag fragile, high-value, or oversized items early so your crew can plan for them.
Photograph the condition of your belongings, and keep your inventory list plus model and serial numbers and receipts for valuable items.
Label rooms and boxes clearly so items are placed where you want them at delivery.
Arrange appliance disconnection or service appointments as agreed, and empty and defrost your refrigerator on schedule.
Clear safe walking paths in both homes, and plan for pets and children to be away from the work areas on moving day.
Set aside an essentials bag and a clearly marked do-not-load area for items that travel with you.
At delivery, check your inventory, note any damage or missing items in writing, and keep all of your paperwork.
Our preparation guide — the same checklist, ready to print and share.
This is practical preparation guidance. Services such as appliance disconnection or specialty handling should be confirmed with your move coordinator before moving day.
Items to Keep Out of Your Shipment.
Some things should never ride on the truck, some belong with you, and some need a quick check before they are packed.
Do Not Pack With Household Goods
Flammable, explosive, or corrosive substances are not safe to transport with household goods.
Never conceal these items in boxes or among other shipment items — tell your team about them so they can advise you on safe handling.
Keep With You
Carry these personally rather than loading them on the truck.
Pets travel separately — plan their care and transportation outside your moving shipment.
Ask Before Packing
Rules vary by shipment and destination, so check with your crew or survey coordinator before packing:
Equipment that contains fuel needs approved preparation before it can move — ask your crew or survey coordinator.

Choose Your Claim Path.
Claims are handled differently depending on how your move was arranged. Pick the path that matches your move type — if you are not sure, call us and we will point you in the right direction.
COD — LOCALLY ARRANGED
Local COD (Virginia Intrastate)
A COD move is a privately paid customer move. The guidance here is labeled for Virginia intrastate moves — other states follow their own rules, so ask us for the correct path for your state.
If items are lost or damaged, contact AIOM promptly and request a claim form. The Virginia DMV advises filing with your mover within 30 calendar days after delivery. Your bill of lading or tariff may contain terms that apply to your shipment, so review them and ask questions early.

COD — ACROSS STATE LINES
Interstate COD
For a move across state lines, file a written claim with the responsible carrier within nine months of delivery — or of the scheduled delivery date for a total loss. Include your shipment or bill-of-lading reference, the facts of the loss or damage, an itemized list of what was lost or damaged, and a specific and determinable amount you are claiming, with your evidence.
For moves AIOM handled, request a claim form from us and we will help you get it to the right place.

MILITARY — FILE DIRECTLY WITH ALL IN ONE
Military NTS & DPM Claims
NTS (non-temporary storage) and DPM (Direct Procurement Method) shipments that All In One handled are claimed directly with us — not through DPS. File with our claims team at claims@aiomoving.com.
Have your shipment or inventory reference, the delivery date, photos of damaged items, each item's original value and age, and what you are requesting (repair or replacement) ready. Keep proof of your written submission.

MILITARY — FILE THROUGH DPS
Military DPS Claims
Defense Personal Property Program shipments managed in DPS are claimed through the DPS portal. For current household-goods shipments, submit your loss and damage notice within 180 calendar days of delivery — then file a separate itemized claim.
Claim filing windows depend on your pickup date: pickups through May 14, 2026 carry a nine-month claim window from delivery, and pickups on or after May 15, 2026 carry a twelve-month window.

Before You File.
Having this information ready speeds up every claim path.
Preserve damaged items and their packaging for inspection, and request instructions before any repair or disposal.
Keep copies of everything you submit, and proof of when and how you submitted it.
Please do not include Social Security numbers, banking information, military orders, or other sensitive documents in a general web inquiry.
Request a Claim Form.
Need the right form for your move? Email our claims team — include your move type, your shipment or bill-of-lading reference, and the best way to reach you — or call the office and we will take it from there.
Use this to submit a completed claim for a direct AIOM claim — a Local COD move we handled or an NTS/DPM shipment we handled. Attach your completed form and photos. Interstate COD claims go to the responsible carrier, and DPS-managed shipments are filed in DPS.
Requesting a form does not file a claim or extend any deadline — follow the timeline for your claim path above. Military members with DPS-managed shipments should file in DPS; we can still help you get oriented.
Ask Our Team.
Unsure which claim path fits your move, or need help reading your move paperwork? Call us or email our claims team and we will walk through it with you. For general questions, our contact page is the fastest way to reach the right desk.
